Michael,
I am working with a teacher once a week and working through 3 of the Blues CDs from RI.
I am NOT lead guitar material. Though I try.
I am trying to improve my rhythm timing. Learn different types of rhythm - up stroke, emphasis on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, stroke of a 4 count or 16 count beat.
First off I have never studied with a metronome. So, everything I hear is in my head. I do have a metronome now...
Any suggestions as to where to start?

Thanks..

Good evening,
Its been a very long time since I lasted visited this site. Seems to be still very low volume.

When I posted the question in Dec 2004 I had been playing a total of 5 months. Here I am 3 years later and I have to say,,, it gets better.

The timing thing is a life long chore. I got with the metronome then a drum machine and then with a band.
All in all a great run.
Tonight I pulled out the old RI CDs and gave them a try. Wow... I can actually play most of the this stuff.

Not bad for 6 nights a week of practice and more than three years.

later folks... Happy New Year.
