Hello! I recently purchased the CD ROM
version of Beginning Strumming & Picking Patterns. I
was just trying to figure out this Em scale on the
first string - which fingers to use on the scale
going up and down the fretboard. The virtual fretboard
interface doesn't let me see suggested fingering -
maybe it's a matter of personal preference, but figure
that there may be a better way of doing this than me
just doing my best guess! Would appreciate your advice
on this. Thanks.

Hi,
If a scale is being played on a single string you may use any fingering you like for it, whatever feels good to you. Try it using just your index finger ascending and descending. Then do the same thing with the other fingers.

Thanks, Lyle. I'll give this a try, though at the beginning everything feels a little rough!
