The typical Santana sound starts with a solid body guitar such as a Gibson SG or Les Paul or PRS. Then turn on the neck position humbucker all the way up. Then set your amp to 80% overdrive, 50% low EQ, 50% mid EQ, 50% high EQ. No effects at all except a little bit of reverb.

Try that....

I am on the way... but still it lacks something!
The guitar doesn't yawl as it should... does somehone has a tip to add some sustain to the sound? Probably plying with echos?

Don't use effects. Try your bridge pickup too. Also adjust the tone knobs for the pickups, moving it around to get different tones.
