Riffs You Can
Use
part 20
Lyle: You can hear my Satriani
influence in this rhythm and lead riff. I like making melodys and chord
progressions in major keys. This chord progression is in the key of B major. The
chord progression is a I - VIm - IVmaj7 - V7 in B major.
Lyle:
The melody you hear in the Lesson Sample is made from the B major
scale.
Lyle:
Here's the simple melody made from that scale:
Lyle:
I'm using a wha wha pedal during the melody for the sound effect. Notice there
are several finger techniques used when playing the melody such as slides,
bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and vibrato.
Lyle:
All these little techniques add to the overall sound and feeling to a simple
melody like this.
Lyle: Here's a looping jam track for you to
practice playing these licks with:
Lyle: In
the lesson sample you hear the melody played with the wha pedal and clean sound.
Then it repeats the melody using
overdrive.
Lyle: The beauty and simplicity of the major
scale comes through again in this
lesson.
Lyle: That's all for this
lesson.
Andy:
ok, thanks!
