Lyle: You can hear my Satriani influence in this rhythm and lead riff. I like making melodys and chord progressions in major keys. This chord progression is in the key of B major. The chord progression is a I - VIm - IVmaj7 - V7 in B major.





Lyle: The melody you hear in the Lesson Sample is made from the B major scale.



Lyle: Here's the simple melody made from that scale:





Lyle: I'm using a wha wha pedal during the melody for the sound effect. Notice there are several finger techniques used when playing the melody such as slides, bends, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and vibrato.

Lyle: All these little techniques add to the overall sound and feeling to a simple melody like this.
