70s Funk Blast - Friday - Week 3

Ready for some finger-twisting down-home funk? Today's lick has a taste of country added to a funky rhythm. The first bar is a cinch, just a few octaves on the downbeats. The 2nd bar is a different story. It's a contrary motion move with alternating low and high notes creating a hip A7 lick. It's important to use the right fingerings to grab all the notes. I play the first four notes with my left 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 1st again (slide up) and 4th fingers. You can either alternate pick the entire riff, or use a few slides and pull-off's. You right-hand finger pickers can play the 2nd bar with thumb and fingers (or pick and fingers) and probably can make it sound very funky. When you get it down, Jam Track #5 is waiting for you to play with it! Check out the audio clip of the actual groove.
