Psychedelic '60s - Blues Influences
As a kid I use to hang out at the local black "juke joints" (Tacoma, WA) with a guitar playing buddy of mine named Jim Clockner. Even though we were both under age and the only white kids hangin' around the black bars, we would do anything to make ourselves look older by slicking back our hair, smoking a cigar, grow facial hair, or whatever it took to get into the bars to listen to all the amazing musicians.

I learned this lick from Jim and it's still a favorite of mine. The lick is based on the G minor blues scale and uses the first finger to barre the 3rd fret. You can use your other fingers to play the lick while finger picking two or three notes at a time. Check out the picking video to study this technique in more depth.
