Progressive Rock Guitarists - Friday - Week 2

Today's example is a 3-string moveable riff shape. Based over a F# minor groove, the shape follows the E major scale starting on the 5th fret of the 2nd string. Half way through the lick, the order of the notes changes direction to give the simple lick a new sound. The only place where you have to change the shape of the lick is when your 1st finger reaches the 14th fret. Then you return to the original shape after that. Try this lick to give you a sound similar to the Steve Vai style.
